Some good reasons to get a vocal technique
check up with a voice specialist are:
If you are a singer,
- your voice gets fatigued after practicing at home, after a singing class,
after a coaching or a performance,
- your singing
voice feels reliable but your speaking voice gets fatigued after you have sung a while,
- you are not sure if you feel a real connection between your body (support) and your voice (resonance)
or you don't feel it all the time or when it happens, you are not sure why it is happening,
- your jaw is tight, your tongue is tight,
- you can't really feel your headvoice, your chest voice, you experience a gap
between them,
- you can't reach those
higher notes effortlessly,
- you are
not confident that you know how to recognize and manage vocal registers,
- you are a cross-over artist and struggle with the switch of vocal technique, with the use of a
microphone.
Then, having some tune up sessions with a voice specialist beside your singing classes can be helpful
to take even more advantage of the work you are doing with your teacher.
If you are
not a singer,
- your voice gets easily hoarse,
- you can't be heard in a noisy environment,
- you are struggling with acid reflux and in spite of the medicine
your MD prescribed, you can't count on your voice,
-
you want to be able to play with your voice more consciously and effectively in public and/or professional circumstances.
After the initial assessment session, Sophie will give you an approximation of the number of
sessions you need. Efficiency and speed are her first concerns. A lot of work can be done in five hours, at a usual pace of
one hour per week.
